
A car that struck pedestrians on Moscow’s Berezhkovskaya Embankment was quickly located, according to the city’s prosecutor’s office.
The vehicle, a HIPhi Z electric sedan known for its futuristic design, was found on 2nd Setunsky Drive. A man born in 2001 and a woman born in 1988 were inside. Photos show the car with a damaged side mirror.
Moscow’s Department of Transport confirmed that the suspected driver has been detained. Authorities said the driver fled the scene but was tracked using traffic cameras. The incident is being monitored around the clock by the city’s traffic patrol and operations center.
The crash occurred Thursday evening around 10:30 p.m. A car ran a red light at a pedestrian crossing and struck multiple people before fleeing.
Five people were injured, including two children estimated to be between 8 and 10 years old. The children were taken to the Research Institute for Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology, while three adults were transported to major city hospitals. Two adults remain in serious condition, while the others, including the children, are in moderate condition.
Authorities have launched a preliminary investigation into the incident.
